The Use of Contextual Learning With NHT Models To Improve Students' Concept Mastery About Seed Plants Subconcepts

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information about the use of contextual learning with the NHT (Numbered Head Together) learning model whether it can improve students' conceptual mastery of the seed plant sub-concept. The research method used is a quasi-experimental research model with one group pretest posttest design.

This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 10 Pandeglang, the research sample was taken from one class of four classes, namely class X4. Data from the study were obtained using a multiple-choice instrument as many as 20 questions were given at the time of the initial test (pretest) before the learning process was given and the final test (posttest) after the learning process was given. The results of the study obtained the average value of the initial test (pretest) of 36.6 and the average value of the final test (posttest) of 76.6. After knowing the results of the pretest and posttest, the researcher continued with the paired t-test, and the results of the paired t-test were significant because tcount > table was 24.8 > 2.73. The results of this study indicate that the contextual learning process using the NHT model can improve students' conceptual mastery of the seed plant sub-concept.

This is because contextual learning connects learning materials with the real world and the NHT learning model which emphasizes students and their groups to think together in determining answers to questions given by the teacher.
